Action Point (2018) Plot

Back in the early 1980s, we meet D.C., the owner of Action Point, a no-frills amusement park that might be a bit rough around the edges, but it’s loved by the local youth because, hey, it’s the only amusement park around! Life’s going okay until a flashy new park called 7 Parks opens up nearby, stealing away D.C.’s customers. To make matters worse, he’s facing some serious financial trouble and might have to sell the park land due to a massive loan.

But hold on, there’s a silver lining! D.C.’s teenage daughter, Boogie, who he hasn’t seen in a while, pays a surprise visit and decides to lend a hand around Action Point for the summer. The trouble starts when D.C. and his crew try to sabotage 7 Parks but get caught in the act, forcing them to think of a way to compete.

D.C.’s lightbulb moment comes when he realizes they can market Action Point as the park where you can do whatever you want, while 7 Parks is all about restrictions. So, in a crazy move, he removes all the safety measures from the rides, creating an adrenaline junkie’s paradise. But, uh-oh, things get out of hand, and people end up getting hurt, including D.C. and his daughter.

As they struggle to keep the park running and deal with personal issues, things go from bad to worse. Boogie, harboring her own secret agenda, reveals her true intention to get D.C. to sign some papers for her mother’s boyfriend to become her legal guardian. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, with ups and downs, chaos, and arrests.

But even in the face of adversity, D.C. and his crew never give up. They fix up the park and reopen it, despite the bank foreclosing on it. When Boogie goes missing, D.C. goes on a wild chase to find her and mend their strained relationship. In the end, he realizes the true value of family and decides to celebrate the park’s legacy with a bang, blowing it up and selling the land.

Fast forward to the late 2010s, and we see an older D.C. reminiscing about the good ol’ days of Action Point while sharing the tale with his granddaughter. Life’s come full circle as Boogie returns home, and they share a heartwarming moment, complete with a little playful joke.

In the end, Action Point isn’t just a theme park; it’s a place where memories were made, friendships forged, and life’s wild ride embraced. So, let’s raise a glass to those crazy times at Action Point, where the thrill of the adventure never faded away!

Action Point (2018) Review

This movie is an absolute blast! I’d totally watch it again and recommend it to anyone who’s into crazy fun and a bit of controlled chaos.

If you’ve ever heard of the real-life Action Point amusement park in New Jersey or are a fan of Johnny Knoxville’s wild antics in Jackass, then this film is right up your alley! It’s a rollercoaster of laughter and entertainment that’ll keep you hooked from start to finish.

Now, I’m not a die-hard Jackass fan, but I can definitely appreciate the thrill of living on the edge for entertainment’s sake, as long as it’s done responsibly. And that’s exactly what I found in this movie, just like I did with “Bad Grandpa” and its outrageous stunts.

The fact that the stuff happening in the film was once a real experience for people adds a whole new level of excitement for me. Combine that with a fantastic supporting cast, quirky characters, and some seriously awesome background music, and you’ve got a winning formula!

Sure, this movie might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s put together so well, and it surprisingly tugs at your heartstrings in a few different ways.

Sometimes, I catch myself daydreaming about Action Point, wondering what if it made a comeback? Could we save it and relive the magic all over again? That’s how much this film gets under your skin!

So, if you’re up for an adrenaline-fueled joyride with a touch of nostalgia, then buckle up and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime with Action Point!
